EXPECTED SCHOOL-WIDE LEARNING RESULTS (ESLRS)

An expected school-wide learning result (ESLR) is an expectation that students will possess a body of knowledge, skills, and character traits as a direct result of meaningful and authentic learning experiences. These ESLRs have been developed and agreed upon by all segments of the Denair Unified School District community, including Denair Unified Board of Trustees, K-12 staff, students, parents and community members.

A Denair High school graduate will demonstrate......... PRIDE

Productive academic achievement:

1.1 Passes California High School Exit Exam.

1.2 Demonstrates proficiency of rigorous academic standards for all courses of study, with an emphasis in math and reading.

1.3 Exhibits advanced levels of technological literacy.

1.4 Actively practices a variety of critical thinking and problem solving techniques.

Responsible self-directed learning:

2.1 Becomes involved in a variety of pursuits that will lead him/her to recognition of life opportunities and a positive self-awareness.

2.2 Plans and sets goals as well as demonstrates personal responsibilities as a viable producer in a changing world.

2.3 Employs the various strategies and agencies of learning, which will enable him/her to be a lifelong accessor of knowledge and an effective problem solver.

2.4 Explores a variety of career options to enable future economic self-sufficiency

Individual commitment and self-worth:

3.1 Takes personal responsibility for self-organization, self-discipline, and self-control.

3.2 Promotes a healthy lifestyle from knowledge of nutrition, fitness, and hygiene.

3.3 Appreciates the contributions, participation, and efforts of others.

3.4 Is aware of the need for a global perspective.

Dependable and responsible citizenship:

4.1 Contributes time, energy and talent to the community.

4.2 Understands that effective government and personal liberties are dependent on being law-abiding citizens who respect life, property, and civic duty.

4.3 Values, appreciates, and honors tradition and history.

4.4 Responds to the needs of others through volunteering time resources, and efforts.

Effective communicators:

5.1 Conveys a receptive and open attitude.

5.2 Takes advsntage of the variety of communication systems.

5.3 Demonstrates an intellectual curiosity of current events in local and world affairs.

5.4 Expresses ideas and opinions coherently.
