Grades: 9-12
This course introduces students to the fundamentals of importing images into the computer, and manipulating these images with state of the art software, such as Adobe Photoshop and Apple's iLife suite. Students will learn how to import images from a digital camera and scanner. These imported images serve as starting points for images of elaborate projects that teach, not only the fundamentals of these programs, but tricks of the trade that are used by many professionals in the industry. Students will also create GIF animations and multimedia portfolio presentations at the end of each semester. Galleries 9 and 10 of the student web gallery display some of these Art Design class's images.
The projects and tests listed here are intended for the viewing of Denair High School students and their parents. All assignments in our Art Design class will be done in class, since we can't expect all parents to have a computer along with the graphics software we have available to us here at school.
To view a project select the link to that project in the "Projects" column. This will take you to a page that will have instructions on how to complete the project. Some projects will have written instructions, some will have instructional videos, and some will have both. Most pages will include study sheets for tests that tie into the current project. An "Endfile" will also be included showing the student how their project should look, and what the arrangement of the layers in the layers palette should look like as well as other expectations.
Project web pages also contain links to study guides for tests. The information for the tests ties directly into the unit that's presented. Fill out the questions to the study guide and use them to study for the test. Make sure to pay attention to test dates listed here on this web page.

Most tests can be taken online. Click the Quiz Star link below to access the student log in page.

Students that are finished with their assigned work should work on Extra Credit projects. Their is a whole world of tutorials that are available online for students to access and work on for extra credit. The link below will take you to a page that has links to Photoshop websites, extra credit assignments I have put together, and random tutorials I have found online. When you are finished with your extra credit projects turn them in to the "Needs Grade" folder so you can receive credit for them. Approximately 5 to 10 points is assigned to each Extra Credit project and a maximum of 50 Extra Credit points can be earned each quarter. It is not a good idea to do extra credit instead of your assigned projects.
