Kindergarten/Transitional Kindergarten

Registration 2018-2019

Kindergarten/Transitional Kindergarten packets can be picked at the DECA office beginning on Monday, January 29th. Registration will be held on Tuesday, February 13th from 8:30-11:00am in room 39. If you have further questions, please call our office at 632-8887.

Does my child qualify for Kindergarten? Districts must admit children at the beginning of the school year (or whenever they move into a district) if they will be five years of age on or before September 1 (EC Section 48000[a]).

Does my child qualify for Transitional Kindergarten? Pursuant to EC 48000(c), a child is eligible for TK if the child will have their birthday between September 2nd and December 2nd.


If you wish to enroll your child in the dual language immersion program, you must attend ONE mandatory parent orientation prior to your child being placed on an immersion list. At the orientation the program will be explained in detail and commitment forms will be handed out. Dates/times are as follows:

For safety purposes ALL visitors, including parents, must immediately proceed to the office to sign in and receive a visitor’s pass before entering campus. Classroom visits must be prearranged with the classroom teacher prior to arrival. All visitors must sign out in the office upon departure. The visitor policy has been established to protect students and staff from the danger of an unauthorized person on campus.

Students are to refrain from communicating with, and are required to report, any person who attempts to communicate with them if they do not have a visitor’s badge. When arriving on campus all visitors should immediately report to the office to sign in a receive a visitor's badge. When signing in you are required to write your name, date, time in and destination. When leaving you are required to report to the office to sign out and record the time out. Any visit to campus during the school day requires a visitor's badge. Events include but are not limited to weekly classroom helpers, classroom and/playground observers, field trip chaperones, class presentations, and assemblies. Thank you for helping keep our students safe!

Volunteers & Chaperones

Parent volunteers and chaperones are sometimes needed to accompany students on field trips and to assist in classrooms. Please contact your child’s teacher if you would like to be a classroom volunteer and/or field trip chaperone. All parent volunteers/chaperones must be cleared through the volunteer application process. Volunteer applications can be picked up in the office. The application and all necessary accompanying documents must be turned in two weeks prior to volunteering/chaperoning in order for the application to be processed and applicant cleared.
