The Denair Unified School District Board of Trustees is made up of five members who serve a four-year term of office. They are elected at large by voters who live in the Denair Unified School District attendance area.

Trustee Information

Ray Prock Jr.
Elected 2015; term ends 2020

Ray and his wife, Erica, have two children, Bryson and Brielle. Both are students at Denair High and have attended Denair schools from kindergarten. Ray a graduate of Denair High School. He is the Manager of Ray-Lin Dairy in Denair, owned by the Prock Family. In addition to his work on the dairy, Ray has held various leadership roles within the agribusiness industry. He was a founder of the AgChat Foundation. He spent six years on the National Dairy Research & Promotion Board, two of them as treasurer. Ray’s experience in the professional world fueled a passion to foster life skills in the leaders of tomorrow -- our students in the Denair Unified School District.


Regina Gomes
Elected 2017; term ends 2022

Regina and her husband, Lee, have lived in Denair for more than 42 years. They have one son, Lee, and daughter-in-law Lenora. Regina’s grandchildren Lucas (Denair High Class of 2016), Logan (DHS Class of 2018) and Rachel (DHS Class of 2019) all have attended Denair schools. Lenora works as a teacher in the Denair Elementary State Preschool Program. Regina retired in 2016 after 36 years as a Classified employee in the Turlock Unified School District. She began as aide, then became a clerk and account specialist before ending her career as a technology support specialist. She was very involved with the Turlock Classified-American Federation of Teachers for more than 34 years and served as local California Schools Employees Association president for 17 years. Today, she works part time in tech support for Sacred Heart Catholic School in Turlock. She is very supportive and proud of Denair’s students, staff and administration.


Crystal Sousa
Elected 2017; term ends 2022

Crystal and her husband, Alcino, have two daughters, Emily and Elizabeth. Crystal and her family have lived in Denair for 20 years and enjoy the sense of community that is felt in their neighbors. Crystal has earned a bachelor of arts degree in history and teaching credentials in English and social science. She also has her master's in education administration along with an administrative credential. She currently is in the process of completing her credential in the area of special education. Crystal has been an educator for 13 years and has spent the last 10 years working for Merced County Office of Education. It is Crystal's firm belief that part of being an educator is being a lifelong learner.


John Plett
Elected 2015; term ends 2020

John and his wife, Kathy, have four daughters who were all raised in the Denair school system. Two of their five grandchildren currently are enrolled in Denair schools and one of their daughters, Kara, is a counselor for the district. John has lived in Denair for 38 years and enjoys the participation of community members in steering the direction of our children's education. John received a bachelor of arts degree in political science at California State University, Fresno, and enjoyed a 26-year career in law enforcement along with nine years of self-employment running a family machinery and harvesting business. John has been retired for more than 10 years, but still feels the commitment to serve the community and maintain the best quality education possible for all children.


Kathi Dunham-Filson
Elected 2015; term ends 2020

Kathi has earned her master’s degree in administrative education, a multiple subject teaching credential and a counseling credential. She has worked in education more than 20 years. She is an active and dedicated parent, coached a variety of local youth sports teams for more than 10 years. Kathi firmly believes that there is not a “one size fits all” educational pathway and that innovative approaches to education benefit all students. She is committed to keeping parents, school staff, students and community members well-informed about district activities. Kathi holds high personal standards for herself. As an educator, she is confident in her ability to teach, motivate and guide others to attain their goals.

The Board shall hold regular meetings based upon an established schedule. Regular meetings shall normally be held at 7:00 PM on the second Thursday of each month based on the established schedule (or as needed to accommodate legal timelines or calendar constraints) at the Denair Unified School District Office, 3460 Lester Road, Denair, CA 95316. CODE OF ETHICS OF THE EDUCATION PROFESSION


The educator, believing in the worth and dignity of each human being, recognizes the supreme importance of the pursuit of truth, devotion to excellence, and the nurturing of democratic principles. Essential to these goals is the protection of freedom to learn and to teach and the guarantee of equal educational opportunity for all. The educator accepts the responsibility to adhere to the highest ethical standards.

The educator recognizes the magnitude of the responsibility inherent in the teaching process. The desire for the respect and confidence of one's colleagues, of students, of parents, and of the members of the community provides the incentive to attain and maintain the highest possible degree of ethical conduct. The Code of Ethics of the Education Profession indicates the aspiration of all educators and provides standards by which to judge conduct.
